A utility customer in South Asia had traditionally used porcelain fuse cutouts in its distribution network. Due to the relatively heavy weight of porcelain units, installation and maintenance work on overhead lines was time-consuming and less convenient for field crews.
To address this challenge, we proposed a lightweight silicone rubber fuse cutout solution. Before implementation, the new product successfully passed comprehensive type tests conducted in a CNAS-accredited laboratory, with engineers from the customer’s national power utility witnessing the tests on-site.
Following the successful completion of the type tests, sample units were supplied for field evaluation by the local utility. After extensive assessment under actual operating conditions, the silicone rubber fuse cutouts demonstrated reliable performance and fully met the utility’s requirements.
As a result, the utility adopted the new product, which significantly reduced the weight of the equipment handled by line workers, simplified installation on overhead distribution lines, and improved working efficiency by saving installation time.
